It has been clear for many months that the two groups most responsible for urban riots, arson, and looting, ANTIFA and BLM have enjoyed significant financial and logistical support, but the supporters have remained obscure to the general public.
Yesterday, two dozen Republican Congressmen signed a letter to the FBI drafted by Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona and calling for an investigation of organizations funding recent nationwide riots:
We write to urge you to use every tool available to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to investigate local, state, and national organizations helping to fuel the criminally violent riots.
Many cities across our country have been rocked by rioters associated with ANTIFA and other organizations. These individuals seem to be using cowardly efforts to commandeer otherwise peaceful protests. These actions constitute domestic terrorism and federal charges must be brought against those who are aiding and abetting the criminal actions of these organizations.
The letter was also signed by Reps. Ken Buck, Matt Gaetz, Steve King, and Doug Collins. Two weeks ago, Congressman Buck wrote a similar letter letter to Attorney General Bill Barr and the DOJ that was signed by 50 colleagues. That letter urged Barr to investigate and prosecute groups found to be responsible for “funding, organizing, inciting, and participating in the destructive riots taking place in cities across the country.”
Earlier this year, AG Barr said:
While many have peacefully expressed their anger and grief, others have hijacked protests to engage in lawlessness, violent rioting, arson, looting of businesses, and public property assaults on law enforcement officers and innocent people, and even the murder of a federal agent. We have evidence that ANITFA and other similar extremist groups, as well as actors of a variety of different political persuasions have been involved in instigating and participating in the violent activity.
On Monday, and following an executive order from President Trump, the DOJ identified three U.S. cities as “anarchist jurisdictions,” in which municipal authorities permitted “anarchy, violence, and destruction” by ordering their law enforcement to “stand down” and by “defunding” law enforcement. The three cities named were New York City, Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington.
We shall see what, if anything, the now heavily politicized FBI manages to turn up. But time is of the essence. It is imperative that they begin this investigation yesterday, considering what we have all heard of plans for massive uncivil uprisings and violence if the Democratic Party is not happy with election results.
